This Guide walks you through the steps to count houses on Google Maps using the CountThings from Photos app.
For each type of object to be counted, you need to add the right Counting Template to your device.
You only need to select the Counting Template once, before counting multiple photos of the same item type.
Step 1 - Adding a Counting Template
Tap on the
Templates button (on the bottom menu)
Select the
Houses on New Google Maps ID: 668 Counting Template by tapping on the
GET button.
When multiple Counting Templates for similar items are available, use the one "Recommended" first. Later you can explore other Counting Templates to identify the one that works best for your needs.
Step 2 - Find the area
From the map, create an image (png, jpg) or PDF file of your target area.
Step 3 - Capture the screen
- Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top or side of your device
- Immediately press and release the Home button
- To find your screenshot, go to the Photo Gallery
Step 4 - Open Image
Verify that your selected template is shown on the main screen.
Then
open the image file.
Step 5 - Optional: Define Area of Interest
Defining an area of interest is optional, but may be useful in some cases, it allows you to count only a portion of the image.
Make sure the "Include" button is selected.
Hold down your finger and drag around the area.
