This Guide shows you how to use the basic features of the CountThings from Photos app by counting X's you've drawn on a piece of paper.

have not downloaded the
CountThings from Photos app.

Download and install the
CountThings from Photos application.
A2. From within the app, Login to your account if you have one, or create an Account. You will need an account to manage your Counting Templates.
A3. You will be taken directly to the Template Library.

B1. Open the app.
B2. Click
Account and make sure you are logged in, or if you do not have an account, create an account. You will need an account to manage your Counting Templates.
B3. On the left-side menu, click on "Templates".
Step 1 – Adding a Counting Template
For each type of object to be counted, in this case X's, you need to add the right
Counting Template to your device. From the
Template Library, find the Counting Template labeled
X's (note ID: 074 in lower left). Add it to your account by clicking on the GET button; then click Done.
Note: For each type of object counted, you need to add the right
Counting Template to your device. A
Counting Template stays in effect until another one is selected.
Step 2 – Select Template to be Used
Verify that your selected template is shown in the top left side of the app. If you have more than one template, you may need to use the "Change Counting Template" button.
Step 3 – Make Image with X's to Count
Take a sheet of paper and draw some X's on it. It doesn't matter how many or what size they are.
Step 4 – Move Image to Windows Device
Take a picture of your X's and then transfer the image to your Windows PC or tablet
Step 5 – Open Image with X's
From the
CountThings from Photos app,
open your image of X's.
Step 6 – Optional: Define Area of Interest
Defining an area of interest is optional. By specifying only a portion of the image to be counted, the counting may be performed more quickly and more accurately.
Make sure the "Count Area" button on the left is selected, then hold down the left mouse button and drag around the area containing the item you want counted.
Step 7 – Count Items
Click
Count.
Step 8 – Review the results – Make Modifications if Necessary
If you notice any counting mistakes, you can easily correct them by adding, deleting, or moving tags.
8A. To make modifications, be sure the "Edit Tags" button on the left side is selected.
Then:
Right click to delete a tag:
Left press and drag to move a tag:

The results are located on your desktop in a folder named
CountThingsResults.
To open the results folder, click on the green Saved button.
The results folders are structured by date: the top level folder is named by year, inside each year folder are folders by month, and inside each month folders are folders by day.

Make sure to send images with the highest possible resolution available to you. Do not resize the image to save space.
