Forms add your own information — product codes, operators, batches, expected quantities and more — to every count. Create a form once in the CountThings Portal, and it is ready to use in the mobile app.
1. Log in to the CountThings website (Portal) with your OEM Admin, Enterprise Admin or Admin account.
2. Select Forms from the MANAGE menu on the left.
3. Click "+ NEW FORM".
4. Name the form (e.g. Product Count), tick iOS/Android under Select Form platform, then click confirm.
5. Choose the form settings in the Form Details screen, using the switches in the SETTINGS column:
- Read-Only ➜ companies you assign the form to cannot change it.
- Form Auto-Update (on by default) ➜ your later changes to the form are pushed automatically to the users’ devices.
- Show Form on Prepare/Review screens (on by default) ➜ shows the Form button before and after counting.
- Open Form Filler before Saving ➜ replaces the Save button with Fill Form, so the form is never skipped.
- Prompt to Fill Form Before Counting ➜ opens the form automatically when the operator taps Count.
- Exclude None values ➜ values equal to none or 0 are not shown on the saved results image.
6. Add a field: scroll down to Fields and click "+ Add field".
7. Select the field type you need (e.g.
Text Box) and click
Done. All eleven field types and their options are explained in
Form Field Types.
8. Name the field in Field title (e.g. Product Code) and turn on the options you need. In this example the value is scanned from the barcode on the label: Display value on result photo, Reset value on new photo, Show "Scan Barcode" button, Auto-scan barcode from photo and Required are on.
Important — field titles
The Field title is what the operator sees in the app and the name used in the CSV/JSON results.
If the form exchanges data with a web service, each field title must be identical to the field name used by the web service — spelling, capital letters and spaces included.
9. Repeat steps 6–8 for every field you want in the form.
10. Click Save in the upper-right corner of Form Details (or Discard to cancel your changes). The form appears in the Forms list with its ID/Version and Platforms.
To change the form later, click the three dots in the Actions column and select Edit. The version number increases each time you save.
